Assistant/Associate Professor, Human Genome Bioinformatics

The Department of Human Genetics in the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health seeks an individual at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor outside of the tenure stream. This full-time position will contribute to the educational mission of the department by teaching and mentoring students in the Genome Bioinformatics masters program and other programs. The department offers the MS in Genetic Counseling, MPH in Public Health Genetics, MS in Genome Bioinformatics, and MS and PhD in Human Genetics. Candidates may focus primarily on the educational mission of the department or may have substantial interest in both teaching and research.

Candidates must possess a doctoral-level degree in a relevant field and must have a substantial interest in pedagogy and educational program development, demonstrated skills to teach bioinformatics, and a commitment to the school's values of respectful dialogue, cultural humility, and promotion of health equity. Additional desirable qualifications include an interest in public health genetics and industry experience in bioinformatics or consumer genetics. 

Appointment at the level of Associate Professor requires at least six years of experience post-doctorate and significant documented research or pedagogical accomplishment. 

Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s background/experience and the corresponding salary range is as follows:

Assistant Professor - $80k - $96k

Associate Professor - $103k -$119k

Positions may start any time after May 1, 2020.
