Research Associates in Statistical Genetics to join the Genetic Epidemiology Group at the University of Leicester, UK (2 posts)
We are recruiting two Research Associates in Statistical Genetics to join the Genetic Epidemiology Group at the University of Leicester. These are fantastic opportunities for researchers with strong statistical genetics skills to work on high-profile, well-funded programmes of research.
The posts are fixed-term for an initial two years and funded through major awards from the Wellcome Trust, MRC, NIHR and industry partners. Key programmes include an £8.8 million Wellcome Trust Discovery Award on molecular pathways in lung function impairment, multi-ancestry genomic and phenomic studies with Orion Pharma, and large-scale GWAS of common and rare variants in the EXCEED Cohort Study.
We are looking for candidates who combine a deep understanding of the statistical foundations of genetic epidemiology methods with strong computational and programming skills. A PhD (or near completion) in statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology or a closely related field is essential, along with experience of working with large-scale genomic datasets and a track record of research productivity. Experience with biobank research platforms or electronic healthcare records would be an advantage.
The group is internationally recognised, well-resourced, and has a strong track record in supporting career development. We actively support postdoctoral researchers in pursuing fellowship applications and building towards research independence. The posts offer excellent opportunities to lead analyses, publish as lead author, present at international conferences, and develop collaborative networks across academia and industry.
