Founded in 1991, the International Genetic Epidemiology Society (IGES) membership uniquely combines multidisciplinary global representation, with the shared goal of improved population health through genetic epidemiology and statistical genetics research. The collective IGES membership has great strength in analytical expertise across multiple “omics” technologies and are focused on approaches for biological and clinical data integration to better understand human disease and improve public health. With these new developments comes an unprecedented need to bring statistical, epidemiological and computational knowledge skills that are relevant to genetic research to a broader audience of knowledge users.
