Section Chief of Epidemiology and Population Sciences, Baylor College of Medicine (BCM)

The Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston, Texas is seeking qualified candidates at the Associate or Full Professor levels for the position of Section Chief of Epidemiology and Population Sciences. The section includes 15 primary faculty and 4 secondary faculty. There is also a very active postdoctoral training program that supports 6 post-doctoral fellows in Integrative Epidemiology. Epidemiological research includes population-oriented research, behavioral epidemiology, genomic studies, animal models of complex exposures, and translational research. Expertise in cancer epidemiology, population health, precision medicine, or survivorship are desired. We seek academic researchers who can contribute immediately, as evidenced by a history of peer- reviewed funding and publications. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated prior leadership and mentoring skills and have engaged in successful collaborative, multidisciplinary research. The position is tenure-track. Salary and start-up funds are highly competitive.

BCM is among the largest biomedical research institutions in the nation with resources and scientists focused on a diverse array of fields. The Department of Medicine is the largest department at BCM and has 14 Sections including 2 research dedicated Sections, and a large and growing portfolio of research funding from the NIH, VA, and Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). The faculty have the opportunity to collaborate with geneticists, biologists, and clinicians at Texas Children’s Hospital, the Houston VA Medical Center, Baylor St. Luke’s Hospital, and Ben Taub General Hospital. The Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) at BCM has strong research programs in the basic, population, clinical, and translational sciences. The Center for Precision Environmental Health Medicine and Human Genome Sequencing Center, Human Microbiome Center and the Children’s Nutrition Research Center at Baylor provide other important resources for collaboration.
