Faculty Professor Assistant/Associate-UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Biostatistics FacilityThe UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Biostatistics Facility and the Department of Human Genetics in the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh seek applicants with degrees in Human Genetics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics or a related field for a full-time assistant or associate professor (non-tenure stream) appointment. The hired individual will join a highly collaborative environment and will provide bioinformatics and computational biology support to pre-clinical, clinical and translational researchers engaged in genomics, data analytics, transcriptomics, microbiomics and related areas. Hillman is strongly supported by UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh, which ranks among the top five universities in the country in terms of NIH-funded research Located in the City of Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood, Hillman is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated matrix comprehensive cancer center focused on state-of-the-art cancer research, training the next generation of cancer researchers and engaging in outreach to the community. Hillman has over 300 members, seven scientific programs, fifteen supported shared resources, and an FY18 institutional funding base of nearly $157 million. During its 2015 NIH review, the Hillman Biostatistics Facility earned the highest possible score, “Exceptional.” The Department of Human Genetics has thriving MS and PhD programs including an MS program in genome bioinformatics. The department’s research spans the full spectrum of human genetics research, with particular emphasis on statistical and bioinformatic approaches to dissecting complex disease. Responsibilities will include working with ‘omics pipelines, annotation tools, and data, including DNA sequence, RNAseq, methylation data, microbiome data, etc. The successful candidate will use or develop methods to prepare and analyze data from observational studies and clinical trials, train scientists in the use of analysis methods, and present results to scientific collaborators. He or she will supervise trainees and Master-level analysts in all of these areas. He or she will also make contributions to the teaching, mentoring, and service missions of the Department of Human Genetics. The successful candidates must have a PhD in one of the fields described above and should ideally have experience with NCI-funded cancer centers. Excellent written and oral communication, computer, people management, and interpersonal skills are expected. The successful candidate will be hired as an employee of the University of Pittsburgh, with a competitive salary and benefits package (seewww.hr.pitt.edu/benefits) and a faculty appointment in the Department of Human Genetics. The salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s background/experience and the corresponding salary range is as follows: Assistant Professor - $80k - $96k Associate Professor - $103k -$119k The position start date is any time after February 10, 2020.
